Are You A Google Junkie

Filed under: Search Engine Optimization Infos — admin @ 11:56 pm

Google this, Google that, Google Google Google…….

My name is Debbie and I am a Google PR Junkie.

I have to laugh at myself as I say that. Because to me I was a Google PR junkie. I had to know what my PR was everyday! Sometimes more than once a day (ok, ok, i’ll admit) everyday I checked at least four times a day to make sure my PR was still the same or maybe to see if it had moved up a notch. Yep I was definitely addicted to Google. I thought Google was the light at the end of the tunnel. If Google said I was a certain PR then by all means it was right. Why? Cause Google said.

To me it was reassuring to see that little green line move across the bar. I always felt like I was in a casino and had just pulled the handle on the slot machine as I sat and waited too see where the little green line would stop. Silly, isn’t it? But yet, I know I’m not alone. There are many of us out there that live by the little green line. Well, I’m here to announce that I have just recently put myself in Google PR recovery. Yes, I am having a few withdrawal symptoms but nothing I can’ t handle.

I know you’re thinking why did I have to put myself in recovery? Well, one day that little green line was not very nice to me. In fact, there was no green line at all. Now of course this had to be a mistake because just two hours before I still had my PR4. So there was no way this was accurate. But after —- geesh I can’t even remember how many more times I pulled the Google handle it still came up with no green line. At that moment I began to feel betrayed, why was Google doing this to me when I had been such a faithful player.

I couldn’t understand why that would happen. I had been adding content– something Google loves. I had been doing my linking. So I was beginning to take it personally that Google just didn’t like me. So after a few days of analyzing (and yes moping too). I decided that I didn’t need Google! Who was Google to tell me that my site didn’t have a PR? I knew I had been working hard on my site and as long as I knew that, that was ok with me.

Well, come to find out I did still have my PR I just had to go about looking for it in a different manner (without the www). Was Google trying to trick me? Well, from what I have understood Google gets confused at times which is acceptable, it happens to the best of us. But I still am keeping myself in recovery. I can see now that my life was being controlled by the green line. I will not allow that to happen again. Besides, I think if maybe I just stop focusing so much on it, It will move up faster.

So my advice to any other Google PR Junkie….don’t worry about the green line. As long as you know you are doing your work and you are getting traffic to your site then you know things are ok. Focus more on the things you can control, and forget the uncontrollable green line.

Hair Today - Gone Tomorrow

Filed under: Looking Good — admin @ 3:48 pm

Good nutrition, low stress and invigorating scalp massages may help you keep your locks longer. The most common cause of hair loss is heredity, but there are some things you can do to slow down the process.

Hair Growth Products

Ever read the Rogaine label? Possible side affects listed on hair growth product labels should deter you from trying that method of hair growth. It states that women may grow facial hair - yuck- not for me. Rapid heart beat and vision problems are also listed as possible side effects.

Also, hair growth products must be used again and again. The labels of such products state that when you stop using the product your hair will go back to its original state. Also there is a chance that you may lose more hair than you had before you starting using the product. This means $20 to $30 dollars every month is needed to keep the unstable tresses.

Common Hair Ailments

Acne medications, antidepressants, blood thinners and a host of other medications can cause your hair to thin or fall out prematurely. Trauma and deep-rooted stress can cause hair to fall out by the handfuls; this condition is called telogen effluvium. Also an autoimmune condition called alopecia areata causes hair to fall out in patches. Male pattern baldness (MPB) and female pattern baldness (FPB) will cause your hair to fall out, no matter what you do. In the case of MPB or FPB, hair loss does take place gradually, so attacking the problem early can sometimes slow down the process.

How Do You Treat Your Hair?

Washing everyday and blow drying your hair is not a good way to keep your hair. Shampoos strip the hair of natural oils and the blow dryer will strip the oils even more while splitting the follicles and drying them out further. Tight hairstyles like cornrows and over-processing such as frequent straightening can cause hair damage that leads to hair loss. Perms and hair coloring, especially done together, are very hard on the hair and scalp and make cause breakage and loss of hair, also.

Supplements for Hair Growth

Supplements such as zinc, iron and B vitamins are all natural hair saving graces. If you are not taking a multiple vitamin, now would be a good time to start. Make sure you are getting enough iron from your food or supplements. Red meat contains iron, but eating whole grains, fish, fruits and vegetable high in iron may be a better way to go since cancer has been linked to high consumption of red meats.

Preventative Measures

  • Get your thyroid checked regularly. Some thyroid conditions lead to hair thinning and hair loss.
  • Keep your liver healthy; try the herb Silymarin (milk thistle) for a liver cleanse.
  • Keep stress down - adrenal glands feed the scalp and hair, too.
  • Try a simple scalp massage before bedtime. Leave the conditioning oil in your hair and sleep with a cotton bandana or wool cap to protect the pillow. Hot oils treatments are also beneficial to the hair and scalp.
  • Drink plenty of quality water, kidneys nourish the hair and can help prevent hair loss.
  • Using a natural bristle hair brush only, brush your hair regularly. This will bring out the natural oils in your scalp and encourage new growth and stability.

As with any vitamin or supplement, please consult your doctor before taking. Author Beverly Terhune speaks from 35 years of living with Rheumatoid Arthritis and shares her experience, strength & hope on how to lead a healthy, substance-free life.

Case Study Question; High Fuel Costs, Bad Time to Start a Truck Wash Business?

Filed under: Wheeling It — admin @ 2:59 pm

The transportation sector is under a bit of stress with high fuel prices. Does this mean there are less trucks on the road and thus less trucks to be washed? Actually, no there are not less trucks on the road, actually large truck fleets are making more money by adding fuel costs into customer pricing.

What about competition during a squeeze to save costs and streamline the sector, more money for fuel means less money for other expenses right? But the larger trucking companies generally sign up with Blue Beacon for $30.00 washes with a corporate discount and they have 90 plus truck washes plus their side brand Hand Wash Charley’s.

Now then the smaller trucking companies, which have long-term contracts cannot react to the increased fuel prices as fast like a FedEx, Swift, JB Hunt and they are really hurting. Small Trucking Companies and Independent Truck Drivers do not have the economies of scale to allow them to raise their prices and if they do they can lose contracts and if they don’t they can go bankrupt due to the increases in costs. Either way they lose and typically the Independents are the highest paying truck wash customers you see? Independents are more apt to be the best customers for $55-70 Truck washes, taking pride in their ride.

There are more trucks on the roads, but also extreme pressure to keep quarterly profits up. And economic hick-up and you could find issues with load levels and pull-backs. Right now we are in a major transportation up swing and running redline, so is this a good time to set up a bunch of truck washes? Well, it depends if one can roll with the punches and market to the larger trucking companies who want faster washes to keep the trucks moving down the highway and low prices to meet their budget commands. Please consider all this in 2006.

Dental Insurance

Filed under: House Of Insurance — admin @ 12:38 pm

Dental costs are becoming an increasingly significant health care expense and more and more people are making sure they are protected against these costs with a dental insurance policy. Dental insurance policies typically work in the same way as any other medical insurance policy. You will pay your monthly premium and this will entitle you to specific dental care procedures such as checkups, cleaning and x-rays. You will also be covered for other procedures that are deemed necessary to keep your teeth and gums in good health.

Comprehensive

As with all insurance policies, they will vary in what treatments they cover and how much they cost. While more expensive policies will give you greater benefits and allow you access to a greater range of services, cheaper ones will be restricted in what they cover and you will be required to contribute to the cost of procedures you require. If you think you will need dental surgery, oral implants, the services of an orthodontist and other more expensive forms of treatment, you will probably want to go for a more comprehensive policy.

One of the main differences between medical and dental health care is that children generally require far more treatment and expense than adults do. This is true right up through your child’s teen years when orthodontists’ bills can often be extremely expensive. You may therefore wish to cover only your children with dental insurance and you should check with your insurer to see if this is possible. While some insurance companies will allow children to have their own dental insurance policies, others will only insure them as part of an adult or family plan and if this is the case you will require to insure them with your own dental insurance provider and this may mean taking out dental insurance for yourself if you do not already have it.

Discounts

Another option offered by some insurance companies is to take a form of dental discount card. This is not dental insurance in the strict sense of the meaning but does provide you with discounts on dental treatment when you require using them. They can be a cheaper way of obtaining limited protection against dental costs and for this reason are growing in popularity. Not all insurers will provide them so shop around and see what’s on offer. As with all insurance, there can be great differences is what you will be offered for your money and considering that dental insurance can be a significant expense, it is wise to make sure you know what is available before you decide to opt for any policy.
